Moms for Liberty member Scarlett Johnson doesn't think President Joe Biden stands much of a chance in the upcoming presidential election, and even went as far as saying she doesn't think he will be the Democratic nominee. The parent advocate from Wisconsin recently took to the X platform, formerly Twitter, to share a poll showing that President Biden's rating as at an all-time low.
"I just don't think Biden is going to be the Democratic Party nominee for president in 2024," Johnson posted on July 30. "Any poll results pitting Trump versus Biden -or- DeSantis versus Biden are likely irrelevant. It's time for GOP voters to be strategic--and therein lies the problem."
Recent surveys show that 64% of Americans believe the U.S. economy is struggling, while 56% expressed uncertainty and 11% say it is expanding, according to CBS News. President Biden's overall approval rating has dropped significantly, from 62% in 2021 to 40% this year. His approval rating on how he handles the economy has decreased 60% to 34%. For financial status, 52% of Americans say they are staying in place and 35% admitted they are falling behind. A minority of 13% say they are making progress and getting ahead, according to CBS News.
According to Gallup, only one president has had lower 10th-quarter approval rating than Biden since World War II, and that is Jimmy Carter. His approval rating dropped to 30.7% due to an energy crisis and high gas prices in 1979. He did not win re-election in his bid for the White House. However, historical trends do show that the approval rating at this point in the year doesn't always coincide with the election outcome. George H.W. Bush had the highest 10th quarter average approval rating was not re-elected to a second term.
CBS News reported that Biden's declining approval rating can be linked to concerns surrounding inflation and issues within the U.S. economy. Despite this, Biden maintains that his economic policies, known as "Bidenomics," are effective. Democrats associate the term Bidenomics positively with aspects like "job creation," "investment in infrastructure," "help for the poor" and "middle class." Conversely, Republicans associate it with negative implications such as "higher inflation" and "tax increases."
