FOIA Request Sent to Village of Thiensville Regarding Same Day Registered Voters for 2024 Election on November 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Thiensville on November 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Ozaukee County News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and sought a list of new registrations voters that registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

This FOIA request is part of our ongoing commitment to provide accurate and comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs. We will continue to seek out and report on important issues affecting our community.

We are waiting for a response from the Village of Thiensville regarding this matter.
