FOIA Request to Village of Fredonia Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Fredonia in Wisconsin by us at Ozaukee County News. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and sought a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we requested a fee waiver as media professionals. We await the response from the Village of Fredonia regarding this matter.

Our goal remains steadfast - to ensure that the public is informed about all relevant matters pertaining to local governance and civic participation. We continue to strive for transparency and accountability in all our endeavors.
