FOIA Request to Village of Belgium Regarding Same Day Registered Voters in the 2024 Election on November 7, 2024.
At Ozaukee County News, we have recently sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Village of Belgium. The request was for a list of new voter registrations that were recorded on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals. We await a response from the Village of Belgium and will continue to keep our readers updated on developments related to this request.
