Concordia University Wisconsin issued the following announcement.
CIC CULTURAL WEEK: DIA DE LOS MUERTOS & ALL SAINTS DAY
This week we celebrate both Dia de los Muertos ("Day of the Dead") and All Saints Day in the Concordia International Center.
Dia de los Muertos is celebrated by people of Mexican heritage to remember, pray for, and assist those loved ones who have passed away. This is not a time of sadness, but of celebration and remembrance. Families build "ofrendas" or altars in their home on which they place photos and favorite foods of their loved ones.
All Saints Day, traditionally celebrated the day after "All Hallows' Eve" (Halloween) on November 1st, is a time to remember martyrs and saints in Christian history. In 609AD, Pope Boniface IV started the tradition of celebrating ALL martyrs and their contributions to the Christian faith world wide.
For both of these holidays, the CIC invites you to enjoy some #COVIDfriendly snacks on our tables in the hallway between Chapel and the Concordia International Center. Snacks are refreshed daily, so please stop by more than once!
